Days 1–5: Rome and Florence You'll depart from New York City and arrive in Rome about 9 hours later (the flight from Los Angeles is about 14 hours). The first day kicks off with a guided walking tour of the Eternal City, with stops at the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and the Colosseum. After dinner, you'll settle into the Hotel Siviglia, a newly renovated property that will be home base for the next three nights. On days 2 and 3 you can explore the city on your own or join an optional tour of the Vatican or Pompeii. Next, the group heads to sun-splashed Tuscany for a guided tour of Florence and a festive night at a local '70s-style disco.
Days 6–11: French Riviera and Barcelona
After crossing the border into southern France, the tour stops for two nights on the glamorous French Riviera. You can explore the cities of Nice, Monaco, and Monte Carlo while you're here. On day 7, you'll pull into the vibrant Spanish city of Barcelona, which Fodor's calls "a banquet for all the senses." You'll have more than two full days to explore the city's eclectic offerings, including the stunning Sagrada Familia basilica and the lively thoroughfare of Las Ramblas.
Days 12–14: Swiss Alps and Munich
Next, the group will take a scenic drive through Switzerland, past Lake Geneva, and into the Swiss Alps. In the Jungfrau region where you'll be staying for the next two days, you can take a high-altitude train ride to get spectacular views of snow-covered peaks. On day 13, you'll depart for Munich in Germany, where you'll have a chance to partake in the revelry at a traditional beer hall.
Days 15–18: Rhine River Boat Cruise and Paris
A riverboat cruise on the Rhine passes by vineyards and a string of medieval castles before dropping guests off at Hotel Germania in the heart of the Rhine Valley. After a one-night stay that includes a traditional German dinner, you'll depart for Paris, with a quick stop in Luxembourg along the way. In the French capital, a guided coach tour will take you to some of the city's most iconic spots. The next day is yours to enjoy Paris however you'd like—go shopping along the Champs-Elysees, pay a visit to the Mona Lisa in the Louvre, or enjoy a cheese-and-wine picnic at the Jardin du Luxembourg.
