Trip Highlights
Rab Island – Located off the northern coast of Croatia, this historic island was a getaway for King Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson when he was King of England in the 1930s. The town of Rab features ancient churches and palaces and stone streets.
Zadar — Still a major metropolis, Zadar was the historic city center of Dalmatia; parts of town date back to the 9th century. Must-see sites include Roman ruins and the sea organ, a massive musical instrument that converts the ocean's waves into melodies.
Mali Losinj — Once a summer playground for the Austro-Hungarian aristocracy, this northern Adriatic island boasts clear waters, pebbly beaches, and an abundance of Mediterranean vegetation.
Opatija Riviera — This international vacation destination started out as a tiny fishing village. Its gorgeous coast is now lined with lavish villas, beaches, and elegant fountains. Be sure to stop by the Villa Angiolina, a circa-1844 resort that was one of the first of its kind in the area.
