$49 for One Month of Unlimited Dance Classes at Paul Pellicoro's DanceSport 17 Feb 2011, 5:01 am
Classic Hollywood musical numbers were actually just the results of hidden cameras capturing big-name actors and actresses spontaneously singing and dancing away rash-related stress. Cash in on the cathartic joy of dancing with today's : for $49, you get an unlimited month of dance classes at Paul Pellicoro's DanceSport (a $325 value), located on 34th Street, near the Empire State Building. Since its founding in 1985, Paul Pellicoro's DanceSport has instilled the power of dance in numerous students, including Al Pacino, who studied with the school for the famous tango scene in Scent of a Woman. The studio hosts more than 80 group classes every week in a variety of dance styles. Tangle with the tango, wrangle with the waltz, or spangle with the samba—DanceSport breaks down each style into levels, allowing students of all abilities to study and evolve as dancers. A staff of more than 30 specialized instructors oversees the 55-minute group classes, with class size averaging 20–40 students. DanceSport holds its classes throughout the week, so check the schedule for dates and times that don't interfere with television programs about how much weight various insects can bench-press. Paul Pellicoro's DanceSport, the New York home for ABC's Dancing with the Stars rehearsals, also stresses the social side of dancing, with parties held nightly. Lunchtime lessons are also available for clients to sneak in between morning meetings and afternoon fax-machine meltings. Four-week cycles start around the beginning of each month. REVIEWS Nine Yelpers give Paul Pellicoro's DanceSport a 4.5-star average, and 10 Citysearchers give the studio a rating of five-stars.
